Hello, I have just bought an A50 trail bike. It has a new Amal carb. When I prime the carb and kick it over it fires. Then stops and I'm guessing the carb is blocked. I prime it again and it fires again and stops after 1 or 2 seconds running. I'm stuck to be honest. The guy I bought it off says it ran perfectly on Boxing Day . Any ideas on what it could be?

When you say "prime" the carb, you mean depressing the tickler? The engine probably runs on the fuel provided by the tickler. You could try to depress the tickler again while the engine still fires and see if it keeps on running. If it does there may be something wrong with the slow speed circuit in the carb. Does the carb has a choke, also called air slide. It should be used in cold weather.
Hi, that is a great idea and will try it in the morning. It does have a choke and I have moved it in all positions. Is it a strip down of the carb? It's a new carb.

Thank you for the reply. It has a choke and I have moved it on, part on,fully on etc. it is a new Amal carb but I will try your suggestion in the morning. Not sure what you mean about the slow speed circuit so I will look that up. It's my first British bike so apologies for the lack of knowledge

Are you pulling the choke on?
Hi got the carb off today, just cleaned it and refitted. Looked in the oil tank and no oil, drained the oil from the engine and replaced into the tank. Kicked fist time and runs lovely. Thank you for the replies.
