I read a thread about Bantam seats from November 2021 so I thought that I would start a new one.
I bought a very old Bantam a couple of weeks ago which requires a total restoration, I can't start it yet as my shed is
being converted into a small bike garage. In the meantime I am gathering info/contacts for the bits that I require when
the shed is finished.
This will allow me to get on with the bike instead of playing on the computer.
I do need obvious things like a dual seat, handle bars, wheels (ally or chrome) etc. The bike seems to be a D3 frame
with a D7 motor, because it is not all original I am going to customize the way I would like it.
I hope that doesn't ruffle too many feathers with the purists amongst you.
Sounds good to me.
Be aware that the later D7 on dual seats won't fit straight onto a D3 plunger frame.
It's the same story with rear 'guards I'm afraid.
Regards
You should be able to get a complete D3 dual seat from RK Leightons or they will re-upholster or restore an old seat if you have the pan. When I did my D14 restoration, the hardest thing to find was a proper set of handlebars - I ended up having to use a set that I thought looked the most appropriate.
Great info, cheers.
