Title: Wheel sizes 1947 C11
Post by: Fred William on 20 Jan, 2023, 21:42
Hello, I'm a new member and need to ask a question about a 1947 BSA C11. Sorry I couldn't find a post war section to ask in.
Please could someone let me know what date did the wheel size change from 20 inch to 19 inch on this model.
Many thanks.

From Roy Bacon's singles book and elsewhere, the change from 20" to 19" took place in 1952.

Thank you very much for this information. If I may I may ask other questions as I'm building the bike.

Questions about the C11 do not come up that often on the forum but there should be someone here who will be able to answer most queries. Back in the 1950's and 1960's, 20" wheels were quit common but rims and tyres can now quite hard to come by having been replaced for off road type bikes by 21" wheels. Worth looking to see what is available in 20" and, perhaps, consider changing to 19" if necessary?
