Title: B25 OIF engine in non OIF frame
Post by: Hardhatharry on 12 Jan, 2023, 14:07
I read there was a difference in the cam between the non OIF and OIF B25 engine. I am putting an OIF engine in a non OIF frame, do I just use the OIF cam?

I assume you are talking about the camshaft - if so, I believe all the B25 camshafts, whether pre-OIF or OIF, had the same cam profiles and gave the same valve timing and so there would be nothing gained in swapping them, assuming this was possible.

Brill I saw one cheap on eBay and I have now purchased, 1 more step onward on getting things together on the engine build.

The camshaft parts numbers are different for the pre-OIF and the OIF B25 engines and I am not sure whether they are interchangeable. Someone with better knowledge would have to tell you what the difference is?

I'm in the process of making an Rupert Ratio engine stand for my Starfire and Dave's diagram for this details the distance between the front and rear engine mountings as 12.5/8", but adds 1/8" rearwards for OIF. This indicates a slightly different position, so you may need to get your round file out to modify the bracket!!

Engine went in with a little tweaking of the front mount not the rear but it looked like the front mount had a little ding in its life.
