Title: A10 speedometer Drive
Post by: JOHNSTONE on 06 Jan, 2023, 15:38
Is it possible to remove the speedo drive unit from the gearbox without taking off the front gearbox cover?
New Year Regards to you all.

Not really. The bush is an interference fit in the cover and needs pulling out. With box left in the bike, access is difficult and should you succeed then when refitting you have to use force to get it or the replacement back in the cover and at the same time ensuring the worm on the shaft engages with the worm on the layshaft and the end of the shaft enters into the small bush fixed in the case without causing damage. With cover left on you just cannot see what is going on.

I strongly recommend you remove the outer cover to do the job, it is easier and safer that way.
