Title: B25 Chain Case Cover Plate Removal
Post by: Janner on 24 Nov, 2022, 11:17
I've been collecting stuff
New imperial washers
New woodruff keys
NOS wiring harness
Fuel pipe
Grommets
Decals
Screws and Bolts (an ongoing job)

new taps and dies, where needed, are on the list

Next subject for me is the removal of the cover plate, located behind the clutch assembly

I obviously want it out clean and undamaged and also want to remove it, prior to splitting the crankcase (Oil leaks to cure  :()

It is currently stuck fast (red sealant . . . Hermetite?)

Any suggestions for removal greatly appreciated

Try a little heat to start with to try to loosen any gasket goo. If it still doesn't budge easily, I would try a thin metal Polyfilla type knife which I am sure could be forced between the cover and chaincase to break the seal without damaging the metalwork.

Must admit to being a little shy about using heat, but your suggestion of a palette knife was sound and with a bit of effort the cover came free, so many thanks.

Next problem is the rear chain oiler, but, I've posted a separate topic for that
