Title: Wiring harness Plunger Type
Post by: GoldenOwl on 16 Nov, 2022, 13:58
Hello Friends
I am restoring my A 10 Plunger type. Since previous owners have pretty much messed up the electrical system, I am intending to buy a new wiring harness. If I look at the diagram I see that 6 cables are connected to a light switch with pins T2, 3, 4, and 5. Does anybody have a part number for that switch or a type of switch? Thanks in advance. Alex

I've been using this website> https://draganfly.co.uk/product-category/bsa/sparesparts-for-bsa-a710-b3133-c101112-m202133/electrical-abcm/switches-wiring-and-horn/switches-abcm/ for part numbers and pictures of items.

I believe it uses a Lucas LU31340 or U39 lighting switch - 2nd row far left in the above reference!

I bought a wiring harness from Draganfly for an A7 plunger rebuild. (Part No. 1071 for BSA twins 1947 to 1962.) Pretty good quality and apart from some redundancy as it also covers the later model electrics, it was a good fit. Might need a bit of fettling for rear brake switch and horn positions but I was pleased with it. At £95 inc. Vat it's not cheap though and if I were to do it again I would probably make my own as the wiring on the mag plunger models is pretty straightforward. Al Osborn at aoservices.co.uk, sells classic bike wiring kits so you can make your own harnesses. If you feel up to it that might be another interesting option. Hope this is helpful.
