Title: OIF tank mount bracket.
Post by: ferretjuggler on 06 Nov, 2022, 20:58
Someone has bodged the tank bolt lug on my '71 A65 frame.
It doesn't look too bad until you look at it from the rear, it's actually lop sided to the right.
So tomorrow I'm taking the frame to work to do some welding on the stand brackets, and while I'm at it I'll replace the bodged up tank bolt mount.
The trouble is I don't have an accurate dimension for the location of the bracket.
I can of course just put it where the bodged one is, but that probably isn't accurate in a fore-aft direction either.
I've got an idea that there's a dimensioned drawing of the frame in the BSA factory manual.
However I'll be damned if I can find my manual anywhere.
Anyone got an unmolested frame to measure up, or a factory drawing which gives the dimensions please ?

Sorry for the terrible photo quality

Thanks I am indebted to you sir. I am rebuilding an early model and intending to fit an OIF tank, so really needed to compare the hight of the top tube member in order get it looking (almost) right. Got it now ----I think..
