Title: SunStar sprockets
Post by: Catz on 27 Oct, 2022, 09:59
I see that Wemoto are selling SunStar rear sprockets for the A10. https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/bsa/a10/60/picture/sprocket_rear_-_pattern
Has anyone got ant experience of using these sprockets? I had them on my 2013 Tiger 800 with no problems but i'm a bit unsure about use on the A10.

Sunstar used to supply discs to Aprilia primarily on the RS125 , probably faster than a A65 but lighter and many were used in racing, Im looking for a good front one at the moment BUT the BSA's are heavy so if the quality is as good they shouldnt be a problem, Emgo do engine sprockets as well.
Most sprockets for British dont come with names on, wheras Japanese bikes usually use JT or AFAM or DID.
I suppose its where you get them from and if they remove the original packaging.

Wemoto source from decent suppliers. They go to the factories and set out their quality requirements,  if the supplier can't match it they don't supply.

Thank you for all your replies. Some interesting info. Wemoto seem cheaper than the rest for basically the same thing. I know the old saying "buy cheap buy twice" but can't see that being a problem with the SunStar sprockets. I think i'll give it a go. Buy British and all that doesn't mean British is best. I just got a sprocket bearing from SRM, which i bought over the phone, and when it arrived it turned out to be a KOYO brand from Japan.

customer of mine bought bearings from a specialist marque supplier, gave me the engine in bits to rebuild.
cases heated and bearings dropped in. cooled down and turned cases over, bearings fell out!!
chinese make and not a C3 fit,
no problems with Koyo, found as OEM on many Japanese bikes.
listed by many bearing suppliers, you could go on if worried to a online bearing supplier and look for SKF, Torrington or RHP

Sorry i should have been a bit more clear. I have absolutely no problem with Japanese bearings, chains, tyres, you name it, i've got two Jap bikes and a mongrel Tiger.
