Im doing an A65T (1970)rebuild and bought a wiring harness no LU54955258 from SJmotorcyclesengineering, but there are wires for indicators (which this model does not have ) and the rest of the wires are not in the correct place,(I've enquired with him but he said no one else has queried this ) Just wondered if anyone has had the same problem
Hi Daia65,
1970 was a change over year when the 'non-indicators' separate oil tank A65 gave way to the 'indicators and oil in frame A65.
Ask the supplier to swap for an early 1970 or late 1969 harness without indicators.
Dave.
Interestingly, LU54955258 was the Lucas part number for the 1970 pre OIF Lightning and Thunderbolt. As Dave suggests, it may be just a case of incorrect labelling of the later OIF harness which should have the Lucas number of LU54960710
The wiring diagram in the 1969/1970 A65 workshop manual shows flasher leads in the harness with the comment "contained in harness but not used in initial equipment"
So would appear they should be included in the new harness?
Hi,
A delayed idea to fit indicators perhaps. The wires 'out of place' will be to do with the different locations of the ignition switch, coils etc.
Dave.

The wiring diagram for 1969-1970 is shown below. If it is the correct harness, the colour coded wires should correspond to the diagram.
Thanks everyone for the help and the diagram much apprecaited
