Title: B33 valve rockers
Post by: Greenfield on 22 Sep, 2022, 09:27
I'm in the process of overhauling the head on my 1950 B33 (iron head) and notice that the rockers are cast with the numbers 65-1101 and 65-1103. Draganflys list them as 65-1100 and 65-1102. Does anyone know if there's any difference in these rockers?
Cheers

I've just had a look at my spares and they are identified as 65-1101 and 65-1103. I believe these are the bare casting part numbers which become 65-1100 and 65-1102 when machined. The 1954 B31/B33 parts catalogue page 10 lists them as 65-1102 (inlet) and 65-1000 (exhaust). The inlet part number is correct but the exhaust is a typo which BSA correctly list as 65-1100 in the index (page 114). 13 shillings (65p) each in 1954 by the way - still, I suppose that would get you about 10 pints back then!

Cheers Martin
It was worth checking before reassembly.

The number on the castings is usually one digit away from the part number. I have a ZB32 GS cylinder head on which the cast in number is 65-1301 but the part number for the Clubman's version 65-1302 and for the B32A and GS trials version it is 65-1300. The difference is in the inlet port and valve seat sizes but they are all based on the same casting.
