Title: Uneven tick over
Post by: Phil Kempton on 12 Sep, 2022, 18:01
Hello all, I have a 1961 C15 with a monoblock carb. It has a very uneven tick over, as in the revs rise and fall, any ideas ?

Thanks Phil

If there is anything slightly wrong with the carb, the quality of the tickover will be affected. I would start by making sure the inside of the carb is clean and the pilot jet and the air screw passages are clean and not partially blocked. I would also check the carb flange is totally flat by putting a steel rule across it and flatten it by rubbing on a flat piece of emery paper if necessary. Also check the O-ring is in good condition. The condition of the throttle slide could also affect the quality of the idling if it is worn and not a tight sliding fit inside the carb body.

With a carb in good condition, adjusting the tickover is normally just a case of adjusting the air screw to give the most even tickover with the throttle stop adjusted to give the correct tickover rpm.
