Title: B25 completed
Post by: Oliver Pi on 27 Aug, 2022, 17:15
Here are a couple of photos showing my recently completed 1970 B25 Starfire.  Rupert Ratio vol. 1, Yamabond #4, and Triumph service bulletin (General) 5/73 deserve much credit for helping keep the oil off the floor!

Good wrenching and riding to all,
Oliver

Very nice too; love the colour, the indicators are nice and discrete. Where did you get the Yamabond from?

Very nice you certainly won't struggle to find it in a crowded car park 🤣.

I love the indicators very neat, any chance of some more photos and a description of the fitting and wiring of them. I am thinking of fitting indicators to mine

Thanks for your comments.  This was my first go at a British bike and it makes me happy how it has turned out.  The paint color is named Porsche racing yellow yet the bike will likely not challenge too many Porsches in a competition!  I put the turn signals on the bike so to receive a state inspection sticker (Virginia, USA).  I've since been told I could have licensed the bike as an antique and bypassed the inspection sticker requirement, but what's done is done.
I had the turn signals and handlebar control as part of a dual sport Husqvarna project.  I didn't follow through with the dual sport route on the Husky, but the blinkers have worked out well on the BSA.  I got the indicators as a kit from Baja Designs.

I forgot to add this sketch.  My wiring diagram for the project.  Top notch CAD of course!
Also - Yamabond used to be available at Yamaha shops, but I picked up a tube via the internet.

If you're struggling to find Yamabond its the same as Three bond gasket sealant which is much easier to find.

Be careful if using 3bond as it can be dissolved by high ethanol petrol. There is now a specific version for 2 strokes but. I have an email from 3bond confirming they cannot guarantee the fuel won't attack the normal version.

Hiya Oliver ... just wondering what your clutch basket, plates etc is like ... having a few issues with the plain plate at the back of the basket sliding between the clutch hub and basket ... a description would be good! Cheers, Jan

Not sure about the colour but the appearance of the bike is absolutely mint! Well done .

Hello Jan,
I don't have any photos to share of my B25 clutch, but my notes indicate the friction plate is the first one installed.  Installing the steel (plain) plate first resulted in the interference you described in your initial post.
Sorry for the delay in responding; we were out of town and out of touch.
Good luck,
Oliver
