Hello I have a BSA ZB32.A 350 single in a ZB31 plunger frame . I under stand its a compotation model , it dos not have GS in the engine number . has any body got any information about it . Many Thanks Paul
The ZB32A was a non Gold Star competition model the "A" standing for fitted with light alloy head and barrel.
The first iron engined B32 models were introduced in early 1946.
The photo is from the 1951 catalogue. The alloy head and barrel would cost you an extra £10 plus tax.
Thank you for the information and image, now I need to track down a correct tank for it. Would you have any idea what colour the tank was?
The B32A became available in 1949 with either a rigid or plunger frame option. For that year the tank was chrome plated with Brunswick green panels lined with gold. For 1952 the tank was changed matt silver panels with black lining, ditto for 1953. Some models were still produced for 1954 & '55 but with a swinging arm frame or a duplex rigid frame. The s/a model had a chromed tank with silver panels and maroon lining and the rigid models had an alloy tank.
You will find lots of information in Roy Bacon's "BSA Singles Restoration"
I have a 1948 iron engined B32.

Many Thanks the search begins . You must be very pleased with how your bike looks .
Yes, it looked like a B31 with a bit of extra chrome when I bought. I'm slowly turning it back to original. Next step will be a 21" front rim and tyre and mudguard to match. If you like I can PM you a lot more info about the B32 models.
