I am having problems getting a fuel pipe for my 1949 A7 plunger- single carb
It has the flat slide push/pull fuel taps (which I think are 1/4"bsp outlet?)
At present it has a rigid copper pipe arrangement which is leaking.
I cannot seem to find any replacements. Most places I have tried either don't stock, or ask me for part numbers - which I do not know.
If necessary, I will replace the taps in order to get the bike back in the road.
Any info on a source much appreciated!
I would go with herringbone pattern ethanol proof rubber reinforced pipe.
ethanol is known to have an effect on copper so expect leaks to occur, also vibrations will not help.
fittings are widely available form most Brit bike dealers, Ive got a '52 plunger running twin taps linked to a single carb using rubber pipes, a bit messy with 5 jubilee clips in a small area and could be tidier with smaller clips, but does the job.
According to the parts book, the bike with originally fitted with armoured twin fuel pipe 67-8094 which appear not to be available anymore. As said, just use modern rubber fuel pipe instead. The 1/4 BSP tank fitting is easily available:

Not sure what carb is fitted and whether you can re-use carb petrol pipe fitting.
Neatest way to clamp petrol pipe to fittings is using the ferrules shown which require a simple, readily available, crimp tool:

Hi All.
Here is a photo of an original armoured fuel hose as originally fitted by the factory.
I don't think it would be a difficult part to re-manufacture by a company that's into armoured hose etc. Perhaps we should gauge the demand and make an approach. I do think that its an attractive and practical way to link the tank to the carb.
With modern petrol piping, I don't think there is any need to armour it and I personally don't like the original type of armoured piping especially when the zinc plating starts to corrode. If you are not after full authenticity but would still like some form of armoured piping then SS braided piping is a good alternative.
Thank you for all the input. Very useful.😃
