Title: OIF flasher unit location
Post by: GlennA65 on 20 Jul, 2022, 09:52
Hi Folks, The rebuild of my '71 Lightning continues slowly. I'm making my own wiring loom (too tight to buy one and quite fancy the challenge). The bike was not complete when I got it so I have no idea of where the flasher unit should be and I cannot find any reference to it in the manual or hand book.
Just wondered if one of you guys had any idea.

Many thanks Glenn.

I don't know exactly where the flasher unit is mounted on an OIF BSA A65 but, on the equivalent Triumph Twin, the flasher unit is mounted under the seat on the ignition coil bracket. The A65 uses the same wiring harness as the Triumph twin and I would not be surprised if its flasher unit was mounted in a similar way.

I think between the ignition coils like this.

Interestingly, the Triumph flasher bracket is spring mounted but the BSA version seems to have a grommet to provide the vibration isolation. I certainly don't remember my OIF Triumph twin vibrating that much!

Fantastic guys, thank you. If all else failed I was going to put it there anyway so all good. Thanks for the pic Julian. Helpful in several ways actually.
Cheers Glenn
