Title: Manifold gaskets
Post by: Dibble on 18 Jun, 2022, 21:21
Could anyone enlighten me to the correct way to install the monoblock carbs on my 67 hornet please. The SRM gasket set includes the 2 spacers and 4 paper gaskets. Am i right in assuming it goes paper gasket spacer gasket. If so should i use a liquid gasket as well? Any thoughts gratefully recieved. Thanks. Dave.

Originally, you would have had a paper gasket between the spacer and cylinder head and would have relied on the carb O-ring to seal it against the spacer. Looking at the SRM gasket set, it looks as though they may have provided a second paper gasket to go between the carb and spacer with a hole big enough to still allow the O-ring to seal directly against the spacer. If so, it's probably a belt and braces approach but you definitely don't need a liquid gasket as well. However you arrange the gaskets, it's important to make sure the carb flange is flat rubbing it flat using emery paper on a flat surface if necessary.
