Title: Orange Colour
Post by: Richard PS on 28 Mar, 2022, 13:59
My ex USA A65 1971 Lightning needs the side panels and tank respraying and I am having trouble identifying the right colour. It is orange but does not seem to have a name! I can find Candy Red and Flamboyant Red and even Etruscan Bronze but it is none of those. I would like to get it right if I can.rather than settle for an approximate match. Any ideas?

I can only see Etruscan Bronze listed for a 1971 A65L. Given that the bike is over 50 years old, it's possible that it has been re-sprayed with what someone regarded at the time as a close enough match. Any chance of a picture showing the current colour?

Thanks. Photo attached. The rather poor respray was red but underneath, were the respray has flaked off, it looks orange.

I would have said it was Etruscan Bronze from the picture which is a browny orange in colour. You have to bear in mind that some colours fade over time and so it may not be the same shade as when it left the factory. Red pigments are notorious for fading and, since orange contains yellow and red pigments, it will also probably fade more than other colours.

Hi the Orange colour is Etruscan Bronze which is the same as British Leyland Rheinhart Bronze.. If you are going to order it from Colourtone ltd. it is BLVC 112.
