Hi. Has anyone heard of or fitted 'Safe Turn System' to their bikes. I have fitted indicators to mine but with no 'dash' warning light I keep forgetting to cancel them so this system seems to be the way to go but I don't know whether it can be retro fitted to our old bikes.
Hi,
They fit all systems as they sense the bikes turns rather than a mechanical device connected to the steering or a timer. Worth registering with the company as they offer discounts periodically.
However rather than splash out, fit a warning light as it is part of the MOT, that's if you have the bike MOTed of course. Or, "A tell-tale is not needed if a direction indicator on each side of the motorcycle can be seen from the riding position. A direction indicator tell-tale can be audible or visual".
Best wishes...
Thanks for the info Bess. Mines not MoT'd yet but I will bear the warning light etc , in mind when I do get around to it.
Before I saw the STS I was looking at changing my indicator relay for one with a buzzer. I suppose that would suffice.
I can see my indicators from the riding position but when you are concentrating on the road they are easily overlooked.
I fitted indictors to my early A65 and the flasher relay emits quite a loud noise which is in time to the flashing indicators and you can't fail to hear it so I never miss turning them off after a turn.
Thanks for that biker bob. I have ordered mine.
bikerbob I have been toying with the idea of fitting a warning light not knowing of a relay that made a noise can you recommend one and where from thanks Roy
Ok I have purchased a 12v flasher relay with a good loud beeper and fitted it but can any one tell me what the letters represent on the terminals they are B on one terminal and L on the other thanks Roy
Hello Roy
B = Battery
L = Load to switch.
I ended up getting a separate buzzer with two wires and just connected it to the two terminals on the relay. My relay is under my seat and I have placed the buzzer on top of the tool box. It is audible with the engine running but I have not yet tried it wearing my helmet so I might have to re locate it.
Hope that helps
Alan
Ok
Took bike out for long ride and unfortunately the indicator warning buzzer I bought cant be heard with helmet on and A10 exhaust note. If the car in front of me had not slowed down at a country junction I could well have tangled with a tractor and trailer who pulled out because I was unintentionally shown to be turning!! I now have to re think it.
How is the relay you bought Roy? Did you wire it ok? Can the buzzer on that be heard clearly with helmet etc?
Alan
Yes all wired up and with the relay under the side panel of my A65 the buzzer was very loud but out on the road I could not hear it due to the exhaust note but I am able to see the front indicators but I have forgot in the past so I might fabricate a light between speedo and rev counter I don't think it should be called an idiot light if it works.
