Either BSA A7 or A10 from model year 1961 - only BSOC dating certificate would tell you which model it left the factory as?

Well this is interesting.
Looking at the dispatch books, the frame GA7.13181 was not fitted with any engine and not dispatched as a complete motorcycle.
It could have been used as a spare frame sent to a dealer.

If it was not sent out as a complete bike would I be able to build it up with A10 engine and apply for an age related plate  ? Hears hoping 🙏

DVLA guidelines for an age related plate for a reconstructed vehicle indicate the main parts need to be 25+ years old and the owner's club needs to confirm it's representative of the marque.

 :) :) :)

Get your engine, put in the frame. Get the Owners Club Certificae and follow religeously the instructions given by Mr Foden along with the Certificate.

No it aint simple and its time consuming. But I would contact him for advice prior to embarking on your venture.

to further cloud the waters. i have an original bsa a10 logbook with a frame number close to above and there is no engine number on the logbook. and its first issue. however the bike was taxed and used on the road.

In regard to frames when a main dealer required a new frame to replace a damaged one they would send the number to the factory and BSA would stamp a new frame and dispatch it to the dealer, but from about 1954 dealers could keep in stock unstamped frames and it became the dealer's responsibility to stamp the frame, How ever when BSA went into administration who knows what happened to all those unstamped frames that were with dealers who were themselves closing down and their stocks were sold off. The only way to get a true identity of a frame is to contact the dating officer of the BSA owners club who will give a written reply  which will be accepted by the DVLA for future registration.

there has been many posts regarding bsa a7 a10 factory replacement frames .they are identified by having rear brake cable brackets and rod operated brake lever hole. i should imagine all the frames left in 1972 73 were oif a65. and the receivers still managed to cobble some bikes together for sale.
