Title: A10 clutch
Post by: gt6uk on 20 Feb, 2022, 13:47
i am thinking of fitting electric start to my A10 so will have to replace the Bob Newby belt drive with an original clutch. Can any one recommend a supplier of good quality parts?

Steve.

Hi,

SRM do a complete new clutch for just over £400 including their pressure plate.  A lot of money but their stuff is of good quality.  Buying the bits from other suppliers will probably work out about the same unless you are going for used parts.

Steve.
for the sake of the forum and future discussions, why?
a report on Bob Newby's belt drive? Ive only experienced on on a T120. good/bad?
why change, is it a necessity of the electric start?

The electric start is designed to be used with a chain driven primary. If like me you have a failing knee you need to weigh up whether to have a belt drive and an unused bike or chain drive and an easy life.

The Bob Newby set up is a beautiful piece of kit and has performed with no faults and i would keep it if i could, but the electric start requires a standard set up. The bike is a RGS rep and with clip ons and no extension to the centre stand i am struggling to put it on the centre stand with a dodgy back. Unfortunately this is the only way i can start the bike and as such is getting very little use, so its either sell the bike or fit electric start.

It's a no brainer really. I have an electric start on my B33 fitted in 2016. I have after a struggle fitted one to my M33 also. My knee loves me for it.

Ditto - best 2 grand I've spent on my B33!
