Title: SS90 Camshaft - or not???
Post by: Martin828 on 26 Jan, 2022, 21:21
I'm continuing to strip my BSA SS90 engine, I'm trying to establish if I have a genuine SS90 engine - or not.  I've now removed the camshaft but I cannot see any manufacturers part numbers.  I've attached some photographs, can anyone please identify if this is a true SS90 profile or just a bog-standard B40 cam.

The base circle is 20mm and the distance from the cam base to the tip is 26.7mm - the gearwheel is marked with a little "S" but that is just the gear, the cam can be separated. Thank you.

Looks like a standard cam.
The standard cam has no markings on the camshaft itself - ignore any markings on the camwheel.
Cams which are not standard profile are identified by the part number stamped on the end of the camshaft or a letter S or C on the side of the exhaust cam lobe.
