Title: BSA B40 (SS90) Clutch Puller
Post by: Martin828 on 25 Jan, 2022, 21:48
Hi everyone, I'm in the process of strip and rebuild of a 1962 SS90 (B40 Sports Star).  I have no history of the Engine so I'm stripping it to inspect its components and replace the worn parts.  I want to replace the primary chain so I need to remove the clutch outer drum.  I've removed the central nut, I expect the inner drum is on a taper so I need to release it.  I've removed many Triumph clutches before which have an internal thread to facilitate a screw-in puller, but my inner rotor has no internal thread. Is there an alternative puller, do I have to make a plate which locates over the 4x studs (for the springs) and a central thread to react against the gearbox input shaft...  I don't want to pull on the outer sprocket.

a bit late to reply , did you remove the thick washer behind the nut. as when removed you will see the threads for the pull
