Title: Exhaust
Post by: spike123 on 23 Jan, 2022, 02:14
Hi guys
I'm thinking of putting a Siamese exhaust on my 1969-70 lightning and wanted to know if it can be done due to a tachometer cable being in place . I'm tried a hornet set but the clutch cable is up against the exhaust pipe , any thoughts
Mark

Hi Mark,

There should be no problem as a Siamese system was used on the Lightning Clubman.

My Lightning has Siamese pipes and the cable had plenty of clearance between the pipes but I replaced them and the newer pipes run a lot closer to the cable on the right hand side, actually touching. Not sure if the pipes are slightly different or I need to jiggle them about a bit.

The Tacho and speedo cables do run very close to the exhausts on my Lightning.

I put some heat sink tubing on them then a short stainless spring spring on each one.

Not sure how well it will work, but it ought to be ok... (he said crossing his fingers...)

Maybe the piccies will help...
