Hello all
Well I just started my BSA RGS up Today since last sept after getting knocked off my other bike on the way back home from a bike show, well she started ok but I kept the oil cap off and had her running for about 2 mins and No oil was retuning to the tank, it is fitted with a SRM oil pump so any ideas what it is.
Cheers Mo
The pump needs priming.
Probably an air lock. SRM pumps do need priming and been in the same situation as you.
I ended up removing the feed line after blocking of the oil tank outlet and filled the feed pipe with oil and then blew it through with my air line. Did this several time and the pump stated working.
The SRM technique involves releasing the pressure relief valve and kicking the engine over till oil flows. There is a sheet describing the procedure on the SRM web site.
Good luck with it.
Thank Adrian
I have had a look on there site but could not find it.
Look on the SRM web site and look for oil pumps and there should be a technical pdf file with fitting instructions. There certainly is one for the A65 pump so you could look for that. The gist will be the same for all of their pumps.

Thanks all I will give that a go when I get back in the shed.
