Post by: BeenyBoy on 29 Nov, 2021, 16:12
Hi

I'd like to fit an ignition light to my B175- I quess it would need wiring from the ignition switch to the coil wire but connected to....where???

Not quite sure what you are asking. But if you want to know when electricity is going to the coil, then connect the light to one of the terminals at either end of the wire between the ignition switch and the coil; whichever is most convenient.

Don't break into the wire; use some sort of piggyback connector at the switch or coil, if that's what's needed. Using such a connector makes later maintenance easier, as you can separate the wires. The other side of the light just gets wired to earth.

Thanks...that what I thought but was concerned that effectively there would be a connection from the coil via the light to earth

cheers

Would this leave a light permanently on when the bike is running.
Most ignition lights go out when the engine is running. The light is there to indicate power is going to the ignition circuit if the engine is not running.

I'm presuming that your B175 is battery/coil ignition with alternator charging. If so, you can fit a charging warning light from Paul Goff. Easy to fit and they work.
