Post by: fenderman! on 27 Sep, 2021, 19:06
I have 1955 Road Rocket..the manual calls for 20 weight oil in the primary case..It is hard to find but I can find 20 weight fork oil..would that be ok or is there a suitable oil..30 weight?

Hi,

For many years and many thousands of miles in an '59 A10 combo, '51 A10 and two A65s I have used mineral ATF.  Lubricates everything well but does not affect the clutch friction plates.  Also because it is a redish colour it helps to identify where and drip are coming from.

Dave.

Before using fork oil in ther clutch I'd check fork oil doesn't have any additives that will conflict with clutch funtion.

I have used ATF for donkeys years.

I have been using Silkolene 20 fork oil in my bikes for over 20 years now without any problems.
