Title: 1955 Raod Rocket oil return
Post by: fenderman! on 24 Sep, 2021, 11:00
If the oil stream coming out of the return pipe into the oil tank is not solid, spurting, does that mean the oil pump need replaced?Am it damaging the motor?

There will be air in the return because the return side of the pump has greater capacity than the feed side to prevent a build up of oil in the sump whilst the engine is running.

Hi,

After initial start up and any oil that has settled in the sump has been scavenged, I would say that the spurting of the returning oil is probably a good sign as it shows the pump is scavenging affectively.
