Hi gents looking for advice on installing guides on my 67 hornet head. Im using cast iron n.o.s and new original valves ( i hope! ). What sort of temperature should i be aiming for and are there any tips on starting "square and true" and staying that way? I will ofcourse be redoing the valve seats but I'll leave that to an expert. Lastly are the valve springs sold on e-bay under the Hepolite name ok to use or maybe they originate a little too far from home!? Thanks dave.
:) :) :)
Must confess I no longer "DIY" valve guides. I figure if I'm gonna have the seats done I might as well have the rest done at the same time.
In truth you'll probably never need to go near the job again cos in general terms few of our bikes will ever do that sort of mileage, so might as well farm it out.

I have an engineer do mine, they are set up to do it all the time. There is also the ease that if you order the guides and the holes are worn he can bore them out and make oversize guides. In the end it's just as cheap.
I've used he polite springs in the t100, a50, b40 and probably others.
