Title: Connecting rod W32-7
Post by: Vincent54 on 20 Sep, 2021, 14:40
Good evening, I am new in this forum.
I ride a BSA 500 cc OHV built in 1932.
It is probably a W32-7 OHV with a manual gearbox.
I would like to know the exact type designation of the motorbike.
Chassis number is Z6-14833 and engine number Z6-4422.
The motorbike is registered in Brescia (Italy).
Here is a picture of the motorbike in the Dolomites.
I am looking for a connecting rod for my motorbike, as there was a modified connecting rod and an automotive piston installed in the engine, which I would like to replace.
The connecting rod should have the number 24-278 ? or equivalent.
What length should the original connecting rod be?
Thanks for your help
Best regards

BSA list engines with Z6 prefix as side valve model W32-6.

Z6 frames used on W32-6 SV  W32-7 OHV and 499hp Blue Star with hand gear change.

Please check both the numbers they seem much too high for these models.

Hello
thanks for the answer. It is possible that the engine has been changed. The engine is an OHV 500cc with 84mm bore and 88m stroke.
I am now looking for a connecting rod and a piston with 85mm diameter. In the engine was a Fiat Asso piston and the connecting rod was modified by welding. This is not a good solution.
I have a 24-281 connecting rod, but it is too short (L=190mm).
Thank you if anyone can help me.
