Title: B33 crankpin oil feed grub screw. Please help
Post by: Malc on 11 Sep, 2021, 15:18

Hello beezer bods.
Having just rebuilt the engine on my B33 and pretty much every internal part replaced I was disappointed to find that I was still leaking oil from the timing cover breather. So when I came to check the oil pump was turning properly found that it had become tight. When I dropped the sump plate off I found a little grub screw sitting under the gauze filter!!
Firstly I have no idea where it came from (although the parts book says it's a crankpin oil feed grub screw) and secondly what its purpose is.
Can anyone please help me identify the location and function of this damn grub screw as all literature I have (and that's quite a lot) doesn't give me any ideas.
I thank you in advance.
Forgive my stupidity.

If it is the crankpin grub screw then it screws into the crankpin to seal the oilway drilling. If not in place there will be a significant drop in oil getting to the big end.

Thanks for the reply Julian.  I have the joy of stripping the engine again yippee.
That'll teach me to have someone else do things to my baby. We live and learn.
Thank you.
