Hello,
I recently purchased a 1965 Lightning - rear wheel is 19" (with Avon 3.25) and shocks were 12.4" which gave very little clearance (less than 2") between the tyre and mudguard - so on hitting a bump the tyre would make contact with the mudguard bolts.
Even with this setup the rear tyre remains on the ground when on the centre stand but I replaced the 12.4 shocks with 13.4 which gives me the clearance but now of course the centre stand is useless. Its not worn and is at the standard angle.
I know that these bikes were fitted with both 18" and 19" rears so I'm wondering how it works with 19"?
I'm really stuck with this one so any enlightenment would be very welcomed!
Cheers,
Stuart.
