Title: M33 Starting to take shape....
Post by: Mr Jones on 27 Aug, 2021, 14:17
Finally got the engine back from JMC Classics. Excellent job but not cheap.

Starting to take shape....

Another M33 man; excellent. Mine's a 1953 plunger model.

That's a nice big workshop you have there. I was only thinking about extending my bike shed a few minutes ago, so naturally I noticed the roominess!

Nice restoration Mr Jones

Should be another BSA saved for a generation or 2

Thanks John. Will basically be a brand new 1948 M33 when finished. Anything that could wear, was corroded or damaged has been replaced with new. Anything that was painted has been blasted bare and powder coated. Just have to finishing putting it all back together now!

Absolutely lovely! Excellent restoration job!

BTW, your blasting cabinet looks identical to mine - did you use it for cleaning and polishing your cases, carb and general non-ferrous parts?
I ask because I've found mine so good for this using glass grit for cleaning and beads for peening/polishing. Most of my M21 has been through mine.

Cheers,
Bernie

You've made a lovely job of it, makes mine look a bit dowdy. One small gripe, your front brake lever is upside down.

I have used glass beads for non-ferrous metals in the past but not on this job. Engine cases were done by JMC Classics when they overhauled the engine, gearbox and clutch. Excellent job by them. The carb is new.
