Hi everyone, got an issue with my speedo, after a long restoration period my old speedo was trashed, it was sent away to Phil and come back absolutly mint! when i took the bike out the other day for the very first time the speedo only read max35 mph? could i have the wrong speedo drive? or is the speedo wrong? any ideas the bike arrived to me in boxs many years ago, now rebuilt pic attached and now registered and on the road, i cant think what is wrong with this speedo i am also looking for a La front mudguard chrome hoop goes from forks over the top of the guard and steadys thigs up
Hi Loudoun,
I cannot help with the speedo but I would speak to the person who restored it.
The mudguard looks like it is sitting a bit high and the rear frame loop seems to be missing. Attached pages show front mudguard fittings and I believe yours should be like the bottom one. The other page shows the rear frame loop which helps to support the rear mudguard.
Dave.
Hi don't aiways assume its the speedo if its been refurbed I think it would have been run up to speed on his bench before sending it back but could be wrong, have you fitted a new drive cable I fitted a new cable and had similar problem but mine was the cable was a shade too long when it entered the speedo head putting too much pressure on the workings and slowing it down and could damage it, as for drive it depends on what rear wheel size you have. hope this might help Roy
Hi Roy, i did fit a new cable its so long ago but i seem to remember something about the legnth when i ordered it i will check it out today thanks for your help
Good evening gents, had a nice ride this evening, Speedo still not behaving, I did check the cable the other day that seems fine, does anyone know what the ratio should be on the speedo and drive? Also developed a hesitation on acceleration seems like it's holding back then runs for a while it seemed better when I first started her up then the hesitation started. Might have to clean carbs out?
