Title: c15 1964 oil pump scavenger ball bearing.
Post by: Bedfordowner on 22 Jun, 2021, 17:51
Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help.
I am getting wet sumping and so going through the various possibilities. I have removed the oil pump, distributor model, and removed the scavenger pipe. There isn't a ball bearing at the top of it and after checking the Rupert manual can't decide if there should be one or not. Maybe someone knows the answer. Many thanks for your help.

Hi,
The valve in the scavenge pipe wont stop wet sumping, as there's very little oil in the pipe.

Nearly all wet sumping issues are caused by worn out oil pumps, the oil then passes from the tank feed, through the slack pump gears to the sump.

Best wishes...

Thanks for your help. The pump is tight in spots and even after cleaning still the same so looks like time to find a new pump. Thanks again.
