Hello All
I'm canvassing a bit of opinion on exhausts for my 1958 super rocket.
I've previously asked around and it seems that Armours were the best place to go then, just wondered if that's still the case.
Also
The Armours header/downpipes seem to have a short section of straight pipe on the sweep from the outlet, my pipes which i think are the original ones are a nice sweep or at least i think it is.
Thoughts?
Have a look at classic bikeshops website.
Regards Rich
Hi,
I use Fecked own design, to my eye they are a better looking sweep:

Best wishes...
Thanks, ill have a look at those and see where i go!
Hi,
which silencers did you go for and how are they, mine are without baffles and I'm told that they sound really good but to me they are too noisy. No manufacture name on but they look good, I've tried the eBay baffles but it just seems to stop it revving, maybe it's just that they are quieter.
Ah well, onwards and upwards.
Hi
I went with armours, unfortunately I haven't got to the point where I can start it up yet and the engine rebuild had taken longer than I anticipated and the mag is still away being rebuilt.
Hoping to strike it up I. The next couple of weeks.
I did have a minor issue with the armours silencers, I went with the chromed ones and the chrome around the rear section of the silencer where it meets the curved bit wasn't great, the guy who owns armours was better than the lady I spoke to in sales and he agreed to change straight away so good experience for me.
Better than my experience with them.
I would definitely have gone with Feked over Armours.
Main reason being I worked for feked and was involved in the manufacture of those pipes. A lot of time goes into getting the fit right with a bike on the ramp and the pipes worked and reworked till they fit just right and look right.
Also their chrome is top quality done in the Midlands , each piece is checked on return and even the slightest fault is returned and redone.
Are you referring to the header pipes or the silencers?
Surely it's the headers and the silencer brackets that control the alignment? I've used my old original headers to line up and they seem a good fit although I've had a couple of sets of brackets that really do not fit well. I am looking around for some headers with the nice round sweep as I don't like the straight bit in the pattern pipes.
The silencers I got were perfect when I got them so I really can't complain but everyone has a preference and a choice. it is good to know Feked do that, although I have had parts from them that have been less than desirable.
Every exhaust was made to fit so all of the mounting bolts lied up properly. I cut and shut many pipes until the pipes fitted easily and the whole system was fitted and the silencers were measured to make sure they were both the same height from the floor and parallel where possible.
I agree that some of the bought in parts are below par but the silencers are made on site by a talented welder and the front pipes are produced to their pattern in Poole.
Just thought I would add an update for anyone considering options. I bought a set of header pipes from British bike bits, the pipes were made by LF Harris and were a pretty good fit around the cases etc. The only issue I had was the brackets were slightly out of line with the front stud. I was going to send them back but decided to put a slight twist in to the brackets which was quite easy and they fit nice.
I have 3 A10's. 56 Road Rocket, 58 Golden Flash and 63 Super Rocket. Although expensive, the Armours fit perfectly on my 56 RR. No fussing...just bolt them on. I have Togas on the other bikes and usually have to bend the brackets to get them to fit. My opinion...go with Armours
