Title: Petrol tap (1965 B40F)
Post by: Phil C on 14 Jun, 2021, 12:18
I've just taken apart my petrol tap fitting. Please see photo. Is this right?

Phil

PS    By the way, re my other posts about the filter, I've cut off the end 1/8" which had old glue or something on it, and tinned the end, ready for soldering in place when my blowtorch arrives.)

Hi Phil,

Both of the '65 B40s that I have had were fitted with the Ewarts 'pull for on' type tap with the cork insert.  I think that the tap you have was used on B25s, MOD B40s and others from that time.  You have the tap, an adapter so it can fit the tank and a lock nut so the tap can be positioned correctly.  So not standard but perfectly adequate and does not look out of place.

Dave.
