Hi all, I've seen some points caps for sale with button operated cut outs affixed to them Suitable for the M01 single magdyno. Just short of 50.00 for one. Really like the idea of being able to cut the engine off with no mither.
Anyone fitted one and if so are they a good bit of kit?
Not just the working of them but the quality of them.
Ta 😊
In the absence of any other reply, all I can offer is an arrangement I had on my Bantam, D7 magneto ignition.
Simply took a wire from the screw that attaches the points up to a nice little chrome horn button on the handle bars.
Bingo a nice neat little arrangement. You could use a wipac tricon switch for a combined dip switch, horn and cut off.
Not sure if your ignition system will work on a mag Dyno though.
I think I have seen the caps you refer to advertised, but can't remember where. The principle is fairly simple so they should work, just like those for the KF2 mags.
I had thought about something like that for my B31 but the deco lever works to stop the engine, as BSA intended, so I decided against.
Cheers
Pete

Just for information for sidevalve owners, on my WM20 I found the valve clearance adjuster / decompressor damaged possibly due to using the decompressor to stop the engine. I normally retard ignition on tickover and wait, or if it won't stop just put into gear and stall with front brake on.
I think that damage is more likely due to poor adjustment of the exhaust lifter lever so that it is constantly contacting the tappet head as the valve closes.
It can be a pig to get the clearance right, especially if the exhaust tappet head is a bit deformed so that the clearance changes as it rotates.
