hi gents another dilemma to muse over your bank holiday pint! Every time i get within striking point of commencing the rebuilt something crops up to delay me! I have purchased 2 sets of flywheel bolts from 2 different companies, Srm and Dragenfly. Excellent products no quibble on that point only my originals have an eighth of an inch more thread which,as youknow is critical. Its the 67 hornet we're on with here and yes the crank part number matches my parts book. Has anyone come across this before and where do i get theright ones? I've yet to talk to SRM, they only arrived this morning. One thing which has crossed my mind is to cut a bit more thread but we're talking hardened stuff here! Any thoughts please. Thanks all. Dave
Hi,
I would fit the bolts without the flywheel and measure what's protruding and then the flywheel to see if the bolts will fit without bottoming or thread locking. When fitted if you have the bolt diameter + 2 threads in the crank I would use them. Remember to use the correct washers as the bolt has a radius under the head.
Best wishes...
Thanks Bess for the prompt reply. What i have is 3 original bolts all with 1/2 inch threaded portion. Both the newly sourced items have only 3/8inch thread. They run out of travel far too soon! This is particularly obvious on the sludge trap bolt as i have yet to replace the trap, i can see the extent of travel of the pin etc. Its a strange one!
