Title: Fuel Tank
Post by: Martin S on 02 Apr, 2021, 18:21
Yesterday I managed to knock my Lightning over in the garage. As well as my pride being dented the fuel tank is too; about a half crown size ding on the right side, just below the fuel filler.
Has anyone had any experience of getting dents knocked out; any recommendations? I'm in Warwickshire, so somewhere near would be handy.

I also managed to bend the offside footpeg so it is now touching the timing cover. I believe this is a forged part part, so how best to straighten it please?
All thoughts gratefully received.

I know how to get dents out of exhaust systems, but I doubt you will be happy with it.... Seal the openings, pressurize with air then heat the damaged area with a blow torch. so th air can blow it out again.

As for the footrest just heat it up and bend it straight again.
