Title: Oil seals
Post by: Phil C on 29 Mar, 2021, 10:55
Pete Gill gave me a useful tip on my other thread this morning, regarding which way round to fit a seal: coil to oil. Easy to remember (if anything is these days.) But thinking back to fitting the seal in my circular plate which goes behind the clutch (1965 B40F)recently I seem to recall the seal was the other way round? Is that right? (Please say yes!) Phil

Actually, thinking further, I think I put it in spring first, so spring towards the gearbox. That's right, isn't it?  Phil

Hi Phil,
Spring facing the clutch (coil) keeping the oil in the primary.

Best wishes...

Reading Bess's post I was worried for a minute, but checked back through some photos and I think I've got it the right way. Thanks Bess. Makes sense.   Phil
