 :) :) :)

It could well fetch silly money so not even going to try to guess. I shall follow this with some interest but I would not pay more than about 2K

Looking at it depending on the amount of time you have available it obviously a long term job.

How much will it cost? a lot-expect somewhere in the region 2K would not be unrealistic and even then maybe some. Could be less.

You probably have some idea anyway. If it needs a rebore it will need new pistons. There's your first about £400. Pos/prob another pair of carbs£350ish

If you have never dealt with an import before ensure that the seller has a VOSA certificate.

I've just read the item description and although the seller states that all UK duties have been paid, but there's no mention of the all important NOVA declaration.

I was particularly interested in the frame number

I have recently restored an oil in frame Firebird and kept a detailed list of the cost. I did a video.....here...    https://youtu.be/JN3JBMOAXAM

might be of interest.  or not.

Looks enticing but quite a few bits are not shown e.g. Fuel Tank, chain guard and small items like head steady.
Fully restored private sales are fetching £4500-£5500 at present. So, why go through all the pain of restoring and spend more than that in the process?
Have we come to the point where maybe such import barn finds would better serve us a parts to keep our BSA's going?- Discuss.

I think you are right, I'd be happy to get it for parts but we'll have to see were the price goes.

Hi,

I suppose an other point to consider is that the more bikes that are recommissioned the greater the demand for parts.  Perhaps the outcome could be that used and shall we say non-consumable parts get more  expensive but then as there will be a greater demand for consumables, after an initial price hike, they will come down in price as their production becomes more viable.  Likewise the non-consumable parts would then be more in demand and so their production would become viable.  Ultimately such a full range of good new parts could be being produced that a 'new' BSA could be built from the parts bins.
Imagine that!!

Dave.

I have contacted the seller. There is NO NOVA. He claims that you can register it with DVLA without NOVA. New one on me.

All he has is a customs clearance for a shipment of parts.

Buyer beware.

NOVA is not that difficult as HMRC only require a "Bill of Sale". BUT that can backfire.

To take up another point, I think we have now come very close to the position where the only spares will be from broken machines. Or luck.

Good morning,

'The Star' arrived yesterday and if I was looking for an A65 then there is one in there that would be mine by now.  The 1968 Lightning at £4,650.  Keep it as it is.  Remove the fairing.  Make it yours.

Dave.
