Title: Fork Stanchions
Post by: LIONELSMITH on 24 Mar, 2021, 22:40
I rebuilt the forks with new Bushes and seals and one leaks heavily, I am therefore looking at new Stanchions. There are polished steel and Hard Chrome, which are original and what are the main differences?
Thanks

 :) :) :)

Hi.

I cant answer your question, but I do have a brand new pair of shiny (assume chrome) fork stanchions for earlier model A65 That I bought unnecessarily. They have been unwrapped and offered up to sliders. Then re wrapped in original box. If you are interested PM me.

The hard chromed ones should wear better than plain steel.

Hi,

It is worth getting bushes at the same time and have them matched to the stanchions for best fit.  The last time I bought stanchions they came from C&D Autos with matched bushes.

Thank you for your helpful answers.
Although more expensive I will get the hard chrome.

Mike, the early A65's are coded 68-5030 and are 21 1/8" long. As yours are 22 1/2" they may be 89- 5061 for the A10 but I do not know enough to be sure. On checking with sellers, if it does not say, they are usually polished steel, as I found out chrome are are more expensive.
