Hi, up to 1970 non-police Fleetstar same as Starfire with battery tray and toolbox.
Police Fleetstar larger battery tray to accommodate two batteries and no tool tray. Rear side panel dzuz fastener clip is mounted on the larger battery tray.
Rupert.

Thank you Rupert
I have a ex police bike
so how was the uppermost rubber buffer fixed?
on the other bikes they seem to be fitted to the tool tray

Top sidepanel rubber is mounted on a bracket same as the lower front rubber (police version of this bracket 82-9169 is 1" longer than the standard Starfire bracket). This is then mounted on the frame tube under the seat by P clip 24-8928.
Do you have a parts list for your Fleetstar?

Hi Dane, other than searching the internet using those part numbers I couldn't say where to go for new examples of the clip and bracket.
I may have a used clip as it may be the same as used on the WDB40 airbox, I'll check and see.
If you have the front bracket it should be easy to make a copy.
The Fleetstar parts list is reproduced in Rupert Ratio Vol 3, available from Ratio Publishing.
