Title: 61-3765 fork damper retrieval tool
Post by: nickw on 19 Mar, 2021, 17:33
Hi, I am rebuilding an 1968 A50 and plan to remove the forks for service.  Looks like a PO has replaced the A50 forks with forks from a A65 Lightning, Spitfire or Firebird. I managed to buy a 61-3350 service tool to remove and relocate the forks in the yoke but could not find a 61-3765 damper retrieval tool.  I thought I could probably make one as it is just a threaded tube.  So does anyone know what the diameter and thread is for the top of the damper rod (or the internal thread in the tube cap)?

Thanks, Nick

Thread is 5/16 x 26tpi cycle.

If the lock  nut is still on the rod you can fish it out using a length of bent wire with a hook on the end.

I used to tie a piece of string on mine before removing the top nut.

Hi,
Always found a flexi and magnetic pickup tool invaluable:
