Hello chaps,
Another question regarding the steering stem on my 1946 B3, as I'm sourcing missing parts.
According to the parts manual the steering stem adjusting sleeve has the part Nr. 65-5329 and the stem cap nut is 65-5330.
However, according to Draganfly these 2 parts are only used for 1946-48, and thereafter being replaced by 67-5023 and 67-5024 respectively. Also, the ones available at Drags or other vendors are all the later part Nr.
So, does anyone know what the difference is? And if the later types fit the early 1946 steering stem or yoke?
Thanks,
Gui
The later parts are larger diameter.
1949 on steering bearings cups cones were larger diameter.
I know that the cups and cones are different, but is the steering stem and bottom yoke also different?
Does anyone have a bottom yoke of the post 1948 type lying around, who could measure the diameter of the threaded portion of the steering stem for me? I would like to compare with the one I have.
Thanks,
Gui
The hole in the top cone 65 5319 (same as Bantam) is 1 inch diameter.
The 1949 on yoke shaft is 1.125 inch diameter at the top.
Thanks Julian. Mine is indeed 1".
These very early B31 do have some oddities, which make sourcing parts a lot more difficult...
