Title: Spin off oil filter position?
Post by: geraldhattrick75 on 08 Mar, 2021, 19:27
Hi, after fitting my spin off oil filter just in front of the rear wheel (ooh er missus, we don't want no leaks there...), I now need to pipe it in.

I think I've read somewhere that it must go in the return side as the pump may not have the oomph to pull the oil through the spin off jobbie.

So, assuming the pipe arrangement is: feed from the oil tank to the oil pump manifold at the bottom of the engine (is the feed the innermost pipe (and return the outermost one)?), then the return pipe goes to the spin off filter and thence to the oil tank return.

Does that arrangement sound right please?

I see that the spin off filter housing has 'in' and 'out' marked on it. ('in' from the pump 'return' and 'out' to the oil tank, I assume)

I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm, or tell me what I have got wrong if I've cocked up, please.....

Many thanks,
Dave.

Hi,
As the attached image, cut where shown then, red arrow to the inlet on the filter blue arrow to the discharge from the filter.

Best wishes...
