Title: Gearbox sprocket fit
Post by: Phil C on 28 Feb, 2021, 16:58
Rupert Ratio(vol.1, p.101) says "When fitting it should be found that the sprocket is a tight fit on the sleeve gear splines and may need to be driven on. Any obvious looseness in this department will require loctite."
Mine slides on easily but I don't feel any play. Should I put loctite on and if so why?  Thanks.   Phil

I've never used loctite on the sprocket itself. The locking nut needs to be tight to stop any chattering of the sprocket on the splines.
