Hi
I have an oil leak on the oil pipes union under the engine on my BSA A65 1963 (Looks like it needs a new gasket) Its held on with one bolt and my question is will this union come off without having to lift the engine up.
Bob
Hi Bob M,
The oil pipe manifold has 2 x 'O' rings and can be replaced with the engine in place.
I fit part number 68-0588 (O Ring, Oil manifold) 6mm x 10mm or 1/4" x 3/8" BS010
Best wishes...
Thanks for the quick response Bess, x2 0 rings ordered. Glad the engine don't need moving :).
Thanks
Bob
Hi BOB M,
Please to be of help, although its not the easiest of tasks........
FYi on the Oil in frame A65, the considerate chaps at Slumberglade decided to position the frame down tubes and under rail directly beneath the bolt for the oil pipe connection manifold so you have to lift the engine.
Same with the primary side and the proximity of the primary chain adjuster to the under rail. There isn't enough room to get a sealing washer above the lock nut and the end cap (to stop oil dripping past the threads) needs to be modified so you can get a spanner on it. You need to assemble it all with the primary chain case off. All very frustrating.
