Title: C15 fork oil seals.
Post by: jodie89 on 30 Jan, 2021, 17:34
I wonder if anybody can answer this question. I have a pair of C15 forks, these are the ones with a collar that presses into the top of the seal holders. There is one seal in the seal holder which is fitted with the seal lip pointing down towards the slider. The collar which fits into the seal holder from the top has a similar seal in it's top face. This one has been fitted with the seal lip pointing upwards, so would appear to be there to stop any foreign matter getting down to the other seal. Is this correct or has it been wrongly fitted in the past? Thanks, Roland.

Hi,

I have the same fork arrangement as you and changed my seals today. All four were pointing downwards. I think it's a belt and braces thing as opposed to an additional protection device.

Thanks for the information. That was what I had assumed but it appears the old ones must have been fitted incorrectlu. I will put them all in facing downwards. All the best, Roland.
